A 30-year-old man was shot Friday morning in South Side Bethlehem in what authorities said was an isolated incident between people who knew each other.

The man was shot about 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Pierce Street, according to police Capt. William Audelo.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was last listed in critical condition. He is expected to survive.

Detectives are investigating the shooting, but they have not yet identified those involved, Audelo said.

He said there is no public safety risk.
