The Palmer Township plastics company that was founded by the late businessman and community activist J. Lee Boucher has been sold.
Bardot Plastics Inc., which has a plant along McFadden Road, was sold to Altoona-based New Pendulum Corp. in July for $5.8 million, according to Northampton County property records. The new subsidiary will be named Bardot Plastics LLC.
“Since 1973, Bardot Plastics has built an excellent reputation with its customers, and much of that stems from the founding beliefs instilled by Lee Boucher, and the continued stewardship by the Boucher family over more than 50 years,” said Clark Stapelfeld, president and CEO of New Pendulum. “This acquisition is an excellent example of our investment philosophy, not only from an operational standpoint, but also in terms of cultural fit and how we choose to do business.”
Bardot Plastics specializes in custom injection molding using both engineered and nonengineered resins.
Boucher founded Bardot in Alpha, New Jersey, in 1973 and moved it to Palmer in 1990.
He died in a car crash in January 2021. The driver of the other vehicle, Daniel Zipp, admitted to using methamphetamine before causing the head-on collision and was sentenced in December 2021 to five to 10 years in state prison.
New Pendulum is a family-owned, privately held company that specializes in manufacturing. Its family of more than a dozen companies includes holdings in nine countries and more than 800 employees.
