Easton ties for sixth in PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships

Easton was the top Lehigh Valley-area performer at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships this weekend at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The Red Rovers reached the finals of the 3A Small Varsity division, posting a score of 88.3667, tying with Ridley for sixth place.

Garnet Valley won the state title in that division with a 94.5667.

Other Lehigh Valley-area schools qualifying for the championships in Hershey were Lehighton, Pen Argyl and Wilson in 2A Small Varsity; Bethlehem Catholic in 2A Large Varsity; Freedom, Emmaus, Southern Lehigh and Parkland in 3A Small Varsity; and Northampton in 3A Large Varsity.

Northampton reached the semifinals in its division.

The teams qualified for states at the District 11 Competitive Spirit Championships on Jan. 7 at Easton Middle School.
