Postseason awards for national semifinalist Kutztown continue to roll in.
On Tuesday, head coach Jim Clements was named the Walter Camp Foundation Division II Coach of the Year, while linebacker Brandon Hile and offensive lineman Ryan Schernecke were selected to the All-America Team.
Clements received his second national honor after being voted American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II National Coach of the Year earlier this month.
Kutztown registered its second consecutive unbeaten regular season and boasts a Division II-best 31-game regular season winning streak dating back to 2023.
The Golden Bears, who set new program single-season records for victories (14), consecutive victories (14) and points scored (645), won their third straight PSAC East and PSAC titles, while advancing to the NCAA Division II semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons.
Clements won his 100th game with the Golden Bears at Bloomsburg on Nov. 8. Kutztown went unbeaten in PSAC East play (7-0) for the fifth time in the last six seasons. In 11 seasons at Kutztown, Clements has a 104-30 record. He is the program’s all-time leader in wins and winning percentage (.776). Clements is 170-54 (.759) in 19 seasons between Kutztown and Delaware Valley.
Hile has already been honored with All-America honors by the AFCA, Associated Press and Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). The senior from Winfield was also the PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Year, an All-PSAC East and D2CCA All-Super Region 1 First Team selection.
Hile started all 15 games, recording a team-high 66 tackles (37 solo), 6.0 tackles for loss (TFL), 3.0 sacks, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception. He totaled 196 tackles (108 solo), 16.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks and five forced fumbles in 47 career games, helping KU to three straight conference titles and national semifinals appearances in 2023 and 2025.
Schernecke was also an AFCA, AP and D2CCA All-American, along with earning All-America recognition from the Don Hansen Gazette.
The Hatboro native finished fifth in the 2025 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the YAward voting.
Schernecke started all 15 games, as Kutztown ranked second in Division II in passing efficiency (173.7), fourth in fewest tackles for loss allowed (3.33), fifth in scoring offense (42.9 ppg), fifth in fewest sacks allowed (0.67) and 21st in total offense (432.8 ypg) through the national semifinals.
He added one carry for a 2-yard TD. He was a three-time All-PSAC East selection with first team honors in 2024 and 2025, and a two-time D2CCA All-SR1 pick, earning first team recognition in 2025. Schernecke played in 48 career games, making 45 starts.
