If the Flyers plan on ending their five-year playoff drought, it’s going to be a challenge right from the start.

It was announced by the NHL on Wednesday that the team will open its 2025-26 season on the road at the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Oct. 9 in Sunrise, Florida.

To make the task even more formidable, the Flyers will return to Philadelphia to open their home schedule on Oct. 13 against the Panthers once again.

This marks the third straight season the Flyers have opened their season on the road.

It’s the sixth time since 1967 the Flyers have begun their season against a Stanley Cup champion.

The Flyers have started their slate a total of five times against the Panthers and own a 3-1-1 record in those games.

As for their Metropolitan Division schedule, the Flyers will play Carolina, Washington, Pittsburgh, the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders four times. They will play Columbus and New Jersey three times.

Included on the Flyers’ schedule are 14 back-to-back game situations. Also, they will play three games in four nights 19 times and four games in six nights 24 times.

Like the rest of the NHL teams, the Flyers will have a substantial break in their schedule for the Winter Olympics in Italy (Feb. 5-25).

Schedules for TV and radio broadcasts will be released at a later date.

Single game tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, July 23 at 10 a.m.
