A beloved, nearly 50-year-old restaurant in the Lehigh Valley Mall will stay open for now, as talks continue with “interested parties” to purchase the business.

Owner Bill Baker announced in July that he’d sell or close Dunderbak’s by February, but changed course in a Saturday announcement due to “discussions with interested parties for the purchase.”

“It is likely that should any of these inquiries lead to the sale of the restaurant, that the transition to new ownership will be after our target date of February 28, 2026,” he said online. “Therefore, we intend to operate afterwards on a month to month basis until a settlement date is determined. Any inquiries concerning the purchase of the business should be emailed todunderbaklvmall@gmail.com. Please continue to follow this site for future updates.”

Baker and his wife Kate, who are retiring, opened the German-American restaurant in 1977, just over a year after the mall itself opened.
