Jared Isaacman has submitted his resignation to Shift4 for the second time in a year. This time, his nomination to lead NASA has been confirmed.
The Upper Saucon Township-based credit card-processing company announced Thursday that Isaacman will step down as executive chairman of the company’s board of directors. The resignation took effect when the U.S. Senate confirmed Isaacman as the 15th administrator of NASA on Wednesday.
“We are thrilled for Jared and are eager to witness his exceptional talents and bold vision put to work at NASA,” said Shift4 CEO Taylor Lauber. “Those of us who have worked closely with Jared over the years have been privileged to see both his ambition and ability to achieve those lofty goals.
“Now we’re excited for America to see what we’ve known for some time. His achievements will continue to inspire all of us at Shift4 as we drive towards an exciting future.”
In addition to his CEO duties, Lauber will take over as chairman of the board.
Lauber took over as CEO in June after Isaacman submitted his resignation from the position and took over as executive chairman. Isaacman, who founded Shift4 more than 25 years ago, had planned to step down as CEO when he was first nominated by President Donald Trump to lead NASA.
However, the nomination was withdrawn in May. Trump resubmitted it in November.
Isaacman, who lives in Northampton County with his family, was a close collaborator with Elon Musk ever since buying his first chartered flight on Musk’s SpaceX company in 2021. He also bought a series of spaceflights from SpaceX and conducted the first private spacewalk.
