A developer has completed the purchase of a 27.5-acre parcel of land in Whitehall Township with plans to build a 55-plus community with more than 100 homes.
According to Lehigh County property records, Starr Acquisitions LP bought the land in the 3600 block of Rural Road for $3.8 million from Grant A. Lazarus and others. The Lazarus group last purchased the land in 1997 for $1, but had been in possession of the land for several years.
The family, longtime farmers in the township, also owns the Busy Acres Farm off Bridge Street.
Montgomery County-based W.B. Homes is using the land to build Emerson Village, which will have 116 single-family and carriage homes with prices starting above $400,000. It will be developed in two phases.
Township commissioners gave conditional approval in June.
Estimated taxes for the property, according to county records, are $11,412 with about $8,540 going to Whitehall-Coplay School District and about $1,449 to the township.
