The historic Mahoning Drive-In Theater will host its first off-season event this weekend, a wine fest and vendor market.
The Mahoning Wine Fest will occur noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at 635 Seneca Road in Mahoning Township, the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corp. announced in a news release.
The theater will host 10 local wineries, eight food trucks, 15 vendors, a surprise 5:30 p.m. film screening and bottles of the “Mahoning Moonlit Marquee” wine, a collaboration with Blue Mountain Vineyards & Cellars.
“With the Mahoning Wine Fest, we’re looking to bring a little elegance, a little fun, and a cozy pre-Holiday Season fun to the Drive-In, a chance for both visitors who are there for the wine and shopping to have a nice fall afternoon in a beautiful and classic setting, and regular attendees of our theater one last chance to spend some time with us before we shut down the theater for the winter,” owner Virgil Cardamone said in the release.
Tickets are $5 per person and include souvenir tasting glasses. Designated drivers and those under 21 can attend for free.
The theater opened in 1949 and only screens 35 mm films.
