James L. Sticher OBITUARY
Jim passed away at Fellowship Community on December 30th at the age of 97. He loved the Fellowship Community and lived there for 15 years. Jim grew up in Mahanoy City, graduated high school, and enlisted in the Army. He was sent to Japan to monitor the prisons at the end of WWIl and consequently is a WWIl veteran. He was married to Arlene Sticher for 76 years. They had a wonderful life filled with travel, fun and personal and professional success. She preceded him in death in 2024. She was the love of his life. After their marriage, Jim moved to Allentown to work at Western Electric. He worked there for 35 years and ended his career as a supervisor. His retirement was celebrated with a huge party with lots of praise for his work and lots of laughs. Jim was very devout in his faith. He was a member of Seibert EC church for many years. While there he played on softball and basketball teams. He served as an usher and loved his time of fellowship with his friends at Waldheim Park. Jim loved sports of all kinds – both participating in them and watching them. As he aged, his favorite sport was tennis which he played until he was 90 years old. He was often seen at local high school sports events. Jim was kind and caring. He had a wonderful memory and often remembered to ask others about their lives. He displayed a real joy of life and lived his faith by doing things for others. Jim is survived by a daughter, Linda Palmo and her husband Pete; grandson Michael Lowry and his wife Monika, two great grandsons Matthew and Christopher and a step-grandson, Peter Palmo.
