James V. “Jim” Gearhart OBITUARY
James V. “Jim” Gearhart, 80, of Fellowship Community, Whitehall, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was the husband of Carol (Mann) Gearhart to whom he was married 48 years. Born in Harrisburg, May 15, 1945, Jim was the son of the late Vernon and Elinor (Heck) Gearhart. Jim was Valedictorian of his high school class at John Harris High School in Harrisburg and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in history from Haverford College. He retired as Chief Budget Officer at Kutztown University after 30 years. Having well rounded interests, he enjoyed reading, travel, vacationing at Stone Harbor, NJ, watching sports and photography. Jim was a member of Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, Allentown.
In addition to his loving wife, Carol, Jim is survived by daughters, Diana J. Blackford and her husband, Ty of Sidney, OH, Amy E. Wesner and her husband, Eric of Bethel; grandchildren, Simon, Anderson, and Eva Blackford and Jamie and Paul Wesner; predeceased by brother, John Gearhart.
A service to honor and celebrate Jim’s life will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026 at the Zentz Community Center, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall (on the Fellowship Community Campus), with the Rev. Carl Fischer, Jr., officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Laureldale Cemetery, Reading.
