The Allentown Fire Department and neighboring departments responded to a three-alarm fire that displaced families from five homes in the 500 block of Allen Street in Allentown on Saturday morning.
The American Red Cross is assisting 15 adults and 8 children who were kept warm on the scene in a LANTA bus, fire department Capt. Jon Hammel said in a news release. There have been no reported injuries.
The first truck was dispatched at approximately 9:30 a.m. Photos taken by a freelance photographer showed smoke coming from the roofs of at least two rowhomes in a block of homes in the area.
There were “initial reports of people trapped and fire from the roof” from the 911 caller, the fire department news release states.
The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation, the news release states.
