NEW STORY: Lehigh Valley under winter weather advisory for 2-4 inches of snow. Latest on timing, what to expect

What could be the biggest snowfall of the season so far could happen this weekend in the Lehigh Valley.

Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is possible Saturday night into Sunday morning while an arctic front makes its way through the region, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

Snow covered roads and slipped conditions are possible during that timeframe, forecasters warned.

The system expected this weekend is a “quick mover,” and should be out of the area later Sunday, the weather service said.

The largest single-day snowfall this season recorded at the Lehigh Valley Airport was set Dec. 2 at .8 inches, so anything higher than that would be the highest one so far the region. A total of 1.2 inches of snow has been recorded so far this month, according to weather service data.

Early next week should be clear but very cold. Lows in the teens and 20s are likely through Tuesday night.

There is a chance of rain Thursday. Here is the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:
