Strong gusts of frigid winds will blow through the Lehigh Valley on Sunday, making driving difficult and running the risk of power outages if tree limbs are knocked around.

According to the National Weather Service, much of eastern Pennsylvania, including Lehigh and Northampton counties, are under a wind advisory 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. Expect western winds 20-30 mph, and gusts of up to 50 mph.

The weather service is cautioning residents to secure outdoor objects and drive carefully, as strong winds can make driving difficult. The wind could also blow down tree limbs, leading to power outages.

According to a notice from Lower Saucon Township police, issued about 11 a.m. Sunday, Bingen Road was closed between Wildberry Road and Greenacre Drice due to a downed tree blocking the road. It has since reopened, police said on social media.

Lehigh Valley Zoo also canceled the Winter Light Spectacular event Sunday evening due to the wind. Ticket holders for the event, which began Friday and runs through Jan. 3, will receive an email with rescheduling instructions.
