A strong storm dropped some much needed rain on the Lehigh Valley on Thursday after weeks of mostly dry weather.

Up to 3 inches of rain fell across the region, according to National Weather Service data. The highest total reported in Lehigh and Northampton counties was in Bethlehem, which had just under 2 inches of rain, according to the weather service.

Areas to the north and south saw even higher amounts. In Monroe County, 2.8 inches was reported in Saylorsburg, while the same amount was reported in King of Prussia in Montgomery County.

The rain comes as most of the Lehigh Valley is under moderate drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought monitor.
