Parts of the Lehigh Valley saw nearly 3 inches of rain Thursday night after a line of thunderstorms moved through the region, prompting a flood warning.

The same storm caused an hour-long delay in the Eagles’ season home opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

More than 2.8 inches of rain fell in Bethlehem, according to National Weather Service reports. Easton reported 2.65 inches of rain. Another 2.5 inches fell in Coopersburg.

Other rainfall totals from across the region:

  • Macungie, 2.25 inches
  • Queen City, 2 inches
  • Breinigsville, 1.80 inches
  • Fogelsville, 1.79 inches
  • Whitehall 1.66 inches
  • Center Valley, 1.58 inches
  • Martins Creek, 1.45 inches
  • Bath, 1.25 inches
  • Nazareth, 1.22 inches
  • North Catasauqua, 1.22 inches
  • Weisenberg Township, 1.16 inches
  • Trexler, 1.09 inches

Nearly 1.5 inches fell in Saylorsburg in Monroe County, the weather service said. More than 2 inches were recorded in Kintnersville in Upper Bucks County, and 2.79 inches fell in Spring Township in Berks County.

The torrential downpours caused some minor flooding in the region, mostly in poor-drainage and flood-prone areas. Photos taken by a freelance photographer showed street flooding in front of Easton Area High School at 25th Street and William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, as well as at the intersection of Easton Avenue and Santee Road in Bethlehem Township, a usual trouble spot.

The rest of Friday will be sunny, with a high temperature around 85 degrees. Rain returns to the region Saturday, and fall-like temperatures return Sunday and will remain for most of next week.
