Man dies after bicycle struck by vehicle in Whitehall Township crash, coroner says [UPDATE]

A man has died after his bicycle was struck by a motor vehicle on MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said.

The crash was reported about 1:15 p.m. on MacArthur Road near Sutler Drive, which is between the MacArthur Town Centre and MacArthur Commons in Whitehall Township, according to Lehigh County 911.

The man was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where he later died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Buglio said.

No additional information was released. An autopsy will be performed Friday.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the Whitehall Township Police Department, the Lehigh County Crash Team, and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating. They remained on scene as of 3 p.m.

Dispatchers said there are road closures in the area.
